The Danville Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) updated the City Commission on marketing efforts and film-location outreach and the commission approved a banner request for the Great American Brass Band Festival.
Mister Clinton, speaking for the CVB, said the bureau planned a mix of print, digital, streaming and billboard advertising focused on nearby drive markets, and reported spending “around $150,000 this year on different advertising and marketing efforts.” He said the bureau has created a page on the city website listing about 40 potential filming locations and has been working with Film Lehi to promote local sites to production teams.
On the festival item, Michael Perros, representing the Great American Brass Band Festival, asked the commission to approve a banner request and to encourage volunteers. Perros said the three-day festival will run May 29–31 with music beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday and that picnic-table renters will have access to tables for the entire day. “Music starts at 9AM on Saturday…if you order or rented a picnic table, your table will be ready just before the first band goes on at 9AM,” Perros said. The commission approved the banner request by voice vote.
Commissioners asked a few logistical questions about billboards and event dates; no agenda votes were required for the CVB briefing. The CVB said more detailed tourism-impact numbers for 2024 from the state were expected later and would be released when available.
