The Danville City Commission voted to accept a report from DPJ Consulting LLC reviewing the arrest and use-of-force involving John Hardwick and then approved a series of personnel actions that city staff recommended.
After returning from executive session, a commissioner moved “that we accept the report of DPJ Consulting LLC titled A Review of the Arrest of and Use of Force Against Mister John Hardwick by Officers of the Danville Police Department.” The motion passed on a voice vote.
Following that vote, staff recommended hiring Joseph Lyons as a parks and recreation maintenance worker; commissioners approved the hiring. The commission also accepted the resignation of Police Officer Bobby Hardman, effective April 25, 2025, and approved hiring William Warlick as a police officer.
City staff presented the personnel recommendations in open session after the executive-session discussion; commissioners made the approvals by motion with no roll-call dissent on the public record. The meeting record does not include details about the terms of employment for the hires beyond the motion to approve.
