Architectural Heritage Board re-elects officers, adopts annual goals; grant awards remain on hold

The Danville Architectural Heritage Board re-elected its current slate of officers by unanimous voice vote and adopted its proposed goals for the coming year during the April 16 meeting. The board then heard a grants update from staff, who said certified-local-government and related grant funds are temporarily on hold.
Board members accepted the slate nominated at the prior meeting (chair, vice chair and secretary) by voice vote. Later, the board approved a set of annual goals staff had circulated; a motion to adopt the goals passed with no opposition.
In a grants update, staff reported meeting with Junction City officials and identified the WPA-era City Hall/jail building there as a strong candidate for Paul Brun bricks-and-mortar funding because it is already on the register. Staff noted all CLG (certified local government) and related grant programs were “on hold” at the time of the meeting and that the board would receive updates when funding resumed.
The board also discussed outreach and training: one staff member summarized a recent historic-preservation summit that covered preservation finance and Main Street programs, and members said they would pursue coordinated façade and streetscape ideas in line with successful programs in other Kentucky downtowns.
