The City Commission voted to consent to the annexation of property on Highway 31 South that includes the Lotto Land lift station and advanced several ordinances through summary readings.
Annexation consent
City staff explained the annexation request for an approximately 20‑acre parcel on Highway 31 South and noted the annexation includes the city’s lift station that has not previously been within city limits. Commissioner Powell moved to consent to annexation and Commissioner Stewart seconded; the motion carried unanimously. Staff said the written consent will be included in the minutes to satisfy the Kentucky Revised Statute requirements for consensual annexations.
Ordinance readings
The commission heard second summary reading and first summary readings of several ordinances: an ordinance amending chapter 50 of the city code (second summary reading), an ordinance annexing approximately 20 acres (first summary reading, ordinance 2025‑009), an ordinance repealing and restating permit and inspection fee schedules for the Franklin‑Simpson Planning and Zoning Commission (first reading, ordinance 2025‑010), and an ordinance adopting amended zoning regulations as recommended by Planning and Zoning (first reading, ordinance 2025‑011). Staff noted full copies of ordinances are available from the city clerk after publication.
What this means
The annexation action and ordinance readings move routine land‑use and fee changes forward toward public hearings and final votes. Commissioners identified sponsors for specific ordinances and instructed staff to proceed with required public‑notice steps where applicable.
