Planning commission backs conditional permits for Four Creatives at 255 Granby with time-limited approval

The Planning Commission unanimously recommended approval of conditional use permits for Four Creatives at 255 Granby Street to operate a banquet hall, sell alcohol on premises after 5 p.m. and host live entertainment, with staff conditions and a two-year expiration.
Owner Christina Harris told the commission Four Creatives is a curated, one-stop venue for intimate private and corporate events, providing on-site setup, staffing, coordination with local caterers and vendors, and event management. Harris emphasized the business model is not a nightclub and that the lease prohibits nightclub-style operations; she added the lease allows termination if nightclub-like activity occurs.
Staff described the site as downtown, in the downtown mixed-use zoning district, within the downtown historic overlay and the coastal resilience overlay. Because entertainment was not part of a previous submittal that had come before council, staff re-advertised and routed the application back through the commission; staff recommended approval with a two-year expiration to allow early review under the current ownership and program.
Commissioners voted to recommend approval; the recorded Ayes were Commissioner Pendleton, Commissioner Vann, Commissioner Wells, Commissioner Young, Commissioner Bateman and Commissioner Sutter. Staff will forward the commission’s recommendation and conditions to City Council for final action.
