The public works director reported progress on several parks projects including dock installation at The Gap, electrical and septic work at Wilder Park Pavilion, floor refinishing at Campbell Park ahead of an event, and upcoming playground surfacing upgrades.
The director said dock installation at The Gap began after a measurement misunderstanding was corrected and that installers were on site the morning of the workshop. Electrical work at Wilder Park Pavilion is underway and a septic tank under permit will be installed; once those pieces are complete crews will refurbish the pavilion restrooms. The director said he has bids for the septic work and plans to use the lowest qualified bidder.
Crews were working at Campbell Park to strip and wax floors before a Mayday celebration. The director said he expects to replace compacted playground sand with engineered wood fiber that meets fall-protection standards and to schedule repairs or replacements for other docks. He noted an Army Corps of Engineers restriction limiting how far a dock can extend (reduced from 15 feet to 5 feet in one location), which will affect dock construction options and may increase some bids; the director said he will adjust plans and use a timber section where aluminum dock vendor solutions no longer fit.
The board received the report and had no objections; the director said he will continue work and return with cost details or adjustments as needed.
