County approves temporary summer and medical-coverage library staff funded by unexpected state aid

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners approved temporary staffing actions for the county library system to cover heavy summer activity and an anticipated staff medical leave.
Library director Miss Rountree told the board she sought approval for a nine-week temporary position at the Chipley Library (June 2–July 31) and to increase an existing page's hours in Vernon by seven per week; the total summer cost is $4,350.31. She said the funds will come from additional state aid to public libraries that the county received unexpectedly.
Rountree also asked the board to preauthorize a six-month temporary position to cover an upcoming staff medical leave; she said the six-month authorization would start only when the leave begins and the county would hire the temporary worker only if needed. The board approved both personnel requests by motion and voice vote.
Rountree told the board the temporary hires will keep hours below benefits thresholds where applicable and that she will return with details if and when the medical leave hiring is activated.
