Commissioners award multimillion-dollar Douglas Ferry paving contract, CEI and Clayton Road SCRAP agreement; feasibility study funded

The Washington County Board of County Commissioners approved multiple road-related actions, including awarding the low bid for the Douglas Ferry Road resurfacing project, authorizing construction engineering and inspection (CEI) services, approving a SCRAP grant for Clayton Road resurfacing and accepting funding for a feasibility study on county-owned property near the interstate.
Engineering staff presented the bid results for County Road 280 (Douglas Ferry Road). The low bid submitted by Anderson Columbia was $4,930,896.30; the board voted to award the contract to that bidder. The board also authorized Melvin Engineering to provide CEI services for the Douglas Ferry project; Dewberry conducted design work on related projects.
Separately, the board approved a SCRAP agreement and associated resolution to release grant funding this summer to enable Melvin Engineering to do work on Clayton Road resurfacing. County staff said the SCRAP funding had been applied for several years ago and can be released this summer.
The board approved a Dewberry task order for a feasibility study of county-owned property near the interstate. The award amount for the feasibility study is $67,500.
All actions were approved by voice vote with no recorded opposition.
