Legislators press county for fixes to local roads, drainage and traffic-control issues

Litz and others also described drainage flooding at 140 South Riverside Road (Town of Lloyd) and at addresses on Crescent Avenue (345 and 349 Crescent) where residents had sent a "final notice before legal action"; staff acknowledged receiving the correspondence and were asked to follow up with permits and field inspections.
Legislator McCullough raised ongoing constituent concerns about Lehi Street where a new development and installation of a gate and future traffic signal have created safety worries. Planning Director Dennis Doyle and deputy executive staff said supply-chain delays—particularly long lead times for the traffic-signal mast arm—are slowing installation of the traffic light; gate repairs were expected sooner. "The main lead time is actually the mast arm," staff said; gate repairs were expected within about three weeks. Legislator McCullough asked staff to keep the neighborhood informed as work proceeds.
Members also discussed the Wittenberg Road County 46 culvert replacement in Woodstock; staff said detours began April 29 and the current projected reopening date is June 10. Separately, legislators discussed long-standing questions about the Basin Road low-clearance bridge: some have previously considered removal to accommodate truck detours, while others urged preserving and raising the bridge to support a future trail connection; staff said no formal county plan to remove the bridge is currently under active consideration and that prior conversations with New York City Department of Environmental Protection were exploratory.
Ending: county staff agreed to inspect the reported road and drainage locations, provide timing for gate and light repairs at Lehi Street, and circulate updates about Wittenberg Road and Crescent Avenue matters ahead of the ways and means meeting.
