Orange County will donate a 20-foot-by-30-foot steel-and-concrete hospitality pavilion to the City of Orange for placement at the Riverside Pavilion, County Judge John Goodgame told the council during the meeting. Judge Goodgame told the council the site is frequently used for county and city events, including the Bassmaster event and other gatherings run by the Orange Chamber, and that a permanent covered hospitality area will reduce mud and site-preparation issues during events. He said the county sought to match materials and trim to existing pavilion aesthetics and checked state authorization for intergovernmental transfers before committing funds.
Council members and county staff discussed placement, visibility for security during events and avoiding underground utilities. Council asked city public works staff to coordinate with county crews on final siting; staff said they would mark utilities and recommend a location that preserves event access and circulation. The council approved a resolution accepting the donation and authorized staff to work on placement details.
