Council sets June 7 runoff, early voting dates and polling locations for Place 6
Summary

The Rowlett City Council on May 12 approved an ordinance calling a runoff election for council member Place 6 after no candidate received a majority in the May 3 general election.
City Secretary Debbie Sorensen told the council that, "since no candidate received more than 50% of the votes for council member Place 6, in accordance with section 2.021 of the Texas Election Code, a runoff election will be held". She cited Texas Election Code section 2.023(a) in explaining that the runoff includes the candidates who received the highest and second-highest vote totals in the general election.
The council set the runoff date for June 7, 2025. Early voting by personal appearance was scheduled to begin May 27 and run through June 3. Sorensen read the ballot listing that will appear for the June 7 runoff, naming Pamela Bell first and John P. Bowers second on the ballot.
Sorensen also listed the polling locations that will be used on election day: Rowlett Community Center, Stevens Elementary School, Back Elementary School, Liberty Grove Elementary School, Rylat Elementary School, Harford Elementary School and Schrade Bridal School. She explained that all voting will be held at the Rowlett Community Center during early voting and that Dallas County will administer the runoff at Rowlett’s request because Rockwall County requested Dallas County to host the election.
Councilmember Bowers moved to approve the ordinance calling the runoff and setting early voting dates and polling locations; Councilmember Reeves seconded the motion. The vote carried 5-0.
The ordinance formalizes the runoff schedule and polling plan; the city said it will communicate the locations and dates to voters ahead of the runoff.
