The Beaumont Historic Landmark Commission approved file PZ2025-124 on April 14, 2025, permitting repainting of the brick exterior at 2655 North Street in the color "Stargazer" (Glidden) and, by motion, directed that the trim color be Westchester Gray (Sherwin-Williams 2849) rather than the darker Onyx the owner had used.
Planning staff explained the property was painted without prior approval and that the commission must review colors not within the officially adopted palette; staff described the applied hue as a blue-gray that can appear differently in changing light and recommended bringing the matter before the commission. The building is listed in the 1991 survey as a Tudor Revival built about 1940. The property owner, Ashton Hebert, said she used the color to address deteriorating brick and did not realize a prior certificate was needed. "I had no idea," Hebert said, adding she took action immediately after receiving the notice.
During discussion commissioners and staff suggested an alternative darker gray for trim to better complement the body color; the commission voted to approve Stargazer for the body and directed the owner to use Sherwin‑Williams Westchester Gray (2849) for trim. The motion carried on a roll-call vote. Planning staff said the homeowner had paused further work after being contacted by the city and that the approval will regularize the house color in commission records.
