The City of Weatherford Planning and Zoning Commission on March 12 approved an amendment to Title 12 of the zoning ordinance to list electric vehicle chargers as a permitted use in commercial zoning districts and the industrial district.
Staff presented the amendment (MCA-25-0002) to add electric vehicle chargers as a permitted use in CN (central neighborhood), CBD (central business district), C1, C2, C3 commercial districts and the industrial district, remove EV chargers from the existing kiosk conditional-use listing, and add a standalone definition for EV chargers. Planning staff recommended approval.
No members of the public spoke during the open public hearing on this item. Commissioners had no substantive questions; one commissioner characterized the change as noncontroversial. The commission moved to approve the ordinance amendment and voted using electronic voting buttons. The motion passed unanimously.
The amendment will move forward to City Council for final action following the commission's favorable recommendation and the standard adoption process for zoning ordinance changes.
