The Planning and Zoning Commission received a batch of project updates from staff, including a new site plan, recent City Council actions and planning program milestones.
Staff reported one new site plan: the Liberty Hill Meeting House at 115 Bronco — described as a place of worship across from Goodwill. ‘‘It’s a place of worship,’’ staff said when introducing the new site plan.
Staff summarized April 23 City Council actions that affect planning: the vape shop ordinance and related business regulations passed at council; the ordinance includes an amendment limiting hours of operation in the C‑2 zoning district to 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., while hours elsewhere remain 7 a.m. to midnight. Staff also reported the Costco site plan was conditionally approved, with the caveat that the developer must address listed comments before the site development permit will issue.
Staff updated commissioners on ongoing planning work: the sidewalk ordinance is being reviewed by the city’s UDC consultant (Freese and Nichols) and a first draft is complete; the UDC rewrite has begun and an advisory committee roster is nearly complete pending confirmation of two members. Staff also announced that Liberty Hill won the 2025 General Plan Award from the American Planning Association (APA) Central Texas for its downtown master plan; a downtown revitalization committee open house for the award‑winning plan is scheduled for May 10 from 4 to 7 p.m.
Commissioners asked for confirmation of which vape shop fell into the C‑2 district; staff said they would double‑check the map and confirm. No formal approvals on these items were taken by the commission during the report; several items were described as updates on council or consultant actions.
