Commission approves consent agenda, contract awards, grant applications and bids

Harrison County Commission on Wednesday, March 19, approved a series of routine and project-specific items including the consent agenda, payroll changes, minutes, vendor payments and several contracts and grant applications.

The actions were mostly routine votes to approve staff recommendations. The commission voted unanimously on motions to: approve the consent agenda and payroll change notices A, B and C; accept minutes A–I; approve vendor payments and a Sun Valley ARPA payment of $12,962.10; approve exonerations listed in Exhibit A; award architectural and engineering services to McKinley Architecture & Engineering; award a DEP demolition-program bid to Hoffman Excavating for $119,300; destroy grants-department records under the seven-year retention cycle; accept a $40,000 West Virginia Justice Assistance Grant for school resource officers (“PRO officers”); approve FMLA for Micah Chia Angento; and authorize travel for 9-1-1 employees to required classes May 19–21.

The commission also approved staff resolutions to submit two proposals to the West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) AML Economic Revitalization program for (1) a new animal control facility and (2) the Meadowbrook–Simpson Creek rail-trail bridge connector.

Most motions were moved and carried without extended debate; in most cases the clerk asked for “all in favor,” and commissioners answered “aye.” The meeting proceeded through the printed agenda with staff presentations and brief questions from commissioners.
