County approves DOT grant application, contracts and budget adjustments; multiple items pass 5‑0

County Manager Drew Ressler (speaking for DOT) asked the board to: (1) adopt a resolution authorizing submission of a Safe Streets for All (SS4A) grant application to USDOT for a multi‑corridor safety improvements project and to designate county staff to manage SS4A matters; (2) approve an intergovernmental agreement with Paulding County for improvements along Georgia State Route 92; (3) approve a construction contract with Glosson Enterprises LLC not to exceed $324,101 for Little Willow Road at Johnson Ferry Road (project B2444); (4) approve task order #2 to the 2022 master task order with NV5 Engineers and Consultants for engineering design of Trickham Road at Eula Drive/Rocky Mountain Road in an amount not to exceed $238,648; (5) approve change order #1 to Acceler Construction LLC not to exceed $10,000 for drainage repairs on Riverside Parkway; (6) approve final change orders for various completed projects yielding net savings of $561,551.38 across several SPLOST and Water System funds; and (7) approve a revised budget and schedule for the 2016 Transportation Improvements Program funded primarily by the 2016 SPLOST.
Commissioners moved, seconded and called the question on each item; the transcript notes each motion carried 5‑0. During discussion on the Riverside Parkway change order, a commissioner asked whether the additional work would delay completion; DOT staff said they would provide timeline information to the commissioner as soon as possible.
Implication: The board authorized staff to pursue federal SS4A funding and approved local contracts, design work and budget adjustments to advance multiple transportation projects.
