Public commenters urge against reappointing Board of Elections vice chair over pledge refusal; commissioners record reappointment announcement

Several public commenters urged the Cobb County Board of Commissioners not to reappoint Jennifer Mosbacher as vice chair of the Cobb County Board of Elections and Registration, citing her refusal at the BOE dais to stand and recite the pledge of allegiance.

Hugh Norris, a 28‑year resident and Vietnam veteran, criticized Mosbacher’s behavior at BOE meetings and said the public “owes the citizens an explanation as why she defiantly remains planted in her chair.” Peter Amkin told the commission he was “disgusted by the behavior of Miss Mosbacher and her refusal to face the American flag,” and said that if she was unwilling to support the Constitution she should not serve on the elections board.

Gary Munder and others repeated the request that Chairwoman Lisa Cupid not reappoint Mosbacher and asked for clearer action to “clean the voter rolls.” Christine Rosman also asked the commission not to reappoint Mosbacher, describing perceived arrogance at BOE meetings. Mindy Seager, a resident, defended Mosbacher, describing her as “heads down, gets the work done behind the scenes” and noting Mosbacher’s family volunteers and board work.
