Board members noted that the applicant's recent written statement represented the Interfaith Neighbors program as operating Monday through Friday (closed weekends) and that the museum could draw weekend or evening visitors. Members asked whether on-site parking was sufficient for residents plus museum visitors, especially during special events or summertime museum openings.
Planning board counsel and staff said the project's on-site parking was analyzed in prior reports and that the mixed use allowed for shared parking arrangements; one staff summary in the hearing stated the development needed 14 spaces overall for the identified uses and that the lot contains 20 spaces. Still, members requested a clear written statement from the applicant or their representative confirming museum hours and specifying how many spaces will be retained for residents and for the museum on weekends and evenings.
The board asked that the applicant either provide a letter to the board (to be reviewed by board counsel and staff) that includes museum hours and a statement confirming on-site parking sufficiency, or appear at a future meeting as old business to explain the plan in person. The board indicated that if a lease is temporary and off-site parking is central to the project's approvals, staff and counsel may seek documentation showing durability of the parking arrangement (for example, a recorded memorandum of lease) or otherwise reserve the right to require further action if parking is not available.
No formal motion to amend approvals was made; the board requested clarification and follow-up documentation and said it would decide whether further review or a return appearance by project representatives is necessary after receipt of the requested materials.
