District outlines plan to move specialized programs to Central Campus; board told renovations will cost about $450,000

Aim High and the transition program are scheduled to relocate in the 2026–27 school year. District staff said site preparation and renovations will start this summer and continue as programs are phased in.
Dave, a district facilities staff member, told the board that initial work estimates to maintain Parkway (including boiler repairs) had been about $320,000, but architect estimates and quotes have increased the anticipated cost for the Central Campus relocation and associated upgrades to about $450,000 — roughly $130,000 more than the initial budget allowance. Dave said the additional investment reflects a commitment to creating a higher-quality learning environment.
Board members asked about including staff, parents and teachers in planning. Dave and other staff said the April 30 presentation is a kickoff and that school staff and families would be included in planning conversations; the first official conversations with affected staff were scheduled to begin the day after the meeting. The board asked for ongoing updates as the project advances.
