The Architecture Review Board on Feb. 13 took the following formal actions during its regular meeting:
Votes at a glance
- Approval of minutes: The board approved the minutes from the Oct. 10, 2024 meeting by voice vote; no objections were recorded.
- 326 Ferry Boulevard (applicant John Brown): The ARB voted to transmit a detailed advisory recommendation to the zoning commission. The advisory list included required planting around all four sides, avoidance of Bradford/Callery pear trees, screening of dumpsters with architectural fencing (no chain link), consideration of relocating the dumpster pad to the northeast corner, down-directed site lighting, planting of asphalt-removal areas, study of removing the single row of parking along the southern property edge, screening of mechanicals, addition of architectural elements (for example, brackets), railings for ramps and stairs, unified signage, neighbor screening along Willow Avenue, and depiction of Ferry Creek on the site plan. The ARB noted that its recommendations are advisory and that the zoning commission has final authority.
- 411 Barnum Avenue Cutoff (Brittimore Property Group): The ARB voted to transmit advisory recommendations requesting additional plantings at the northwest lawn area, a less visually prominent bollard color (instead of the bright yellow shown), and architectural or landscape screening for the dumpster/loading area (not chain link).
- Adjournment: The board approved a motion to adjourn at the end of the meeting.
All motions were adopted by the board’s affirmative voice vote during the meeting. The ARB’s actions were framed as advisory recommendations intended for the zoning commission; none of the votes altered zoning code. The clerk will post the approved minutes and transmit advisory letters to the zoning commission.
