Sterling Heights City Council on May 6 voted to deny a conditional rezoning request to convert the former CVS parcel at the northwest corner of Canal Road and Shaner Road into an El Car Wash.
City Planner Dr. Jake Parcels presented the case (PZ25-0002), describing a proposed 4,600-square-foot enclosed wash and a 10,000-square-foot enclosed vacuum canopy with additional outdoor vacuum spaces. "The applicant is proposing to demolish the existing structure for the purpose of constructing a 4,500 square foot automobile wash," Parcels said. Planning staff recommended denial and the Planning Commission unanimously concurred.
