The Town of Stratford received an update on the Greenway Complete Streets Phase 3 project: staff said final sign‑off from DOT is pending and the project — funded by the Department of Defense — cannot proceed to contract execution until the federal/state approval is received.
"We're still waiting for DOT to give us a final sign off on the Greenway phase 3 contract so that we can proceed with a selection consultant," Smitha, a staff member, told the commission. She said the town had interviewed four consultants and had selected one for the work, and that the project team would begin initial scoping and public outreach "pretty aggressively" once DoD/DOT approvals are received.
The update did not include a contractual start date or a firm timeline for beginning public meetings; staff said those steps are contingent on the external sign‑off. No public comment or votes were recorded on the update.
Why it matters: The Greenway project would affect pedestrian and bicycle connections in town; the funding and consultant selection are in place but execution is delayed until external approvals are finalized.
