Public testimony in favor referenced regional league play and the local need for more dedicated pool facilities. “As long as he does what he says he’s going to do about checking for fake IDs and carding people, I think it’s a wonderful idea for the town,” said Jeffrey Gutman, who plays in area leagues.
Operational details presented by the applicant included proposed hours and security: Mills said the venue would generally open Monday through Thursday at 5 p.m. with a 1 a.m. closing time; Fridays and Saturdays would open at 5 p.m. and close at 2 a.m.; Sundays were stated as “12, 12 AM” in the applicant’s remarks and the applicant confirmed a plan to card patrons and hire security on busy weekend nights.
Town staff reported no outstanding objections from municipal departments. After closing the public hearing, the commission approved both permits during the administrative session by unanimous vote.
