The commission approved a zoning appeal allowing sale of alcoholic beverages at 935 Barnum Avenue (former Boston Market space) for an interior service bar for Fairfield Pizza, conditioned on compliance with zoning regulations and obtaining a state liquor permit within 18 months.
The Town of Stratford Zoning Commission voted unanimously to approve an appeal to permit alcoholic beverage service at 935 Barnum Avenue for a proposed Fairfield Pizza restaurant, conditioned on compliance with local zoning rules and subsequent state liquor-control approval.
The applicant, identified as Lucianna representing Fairfield Pizza, said the business would relocate from its current dock location, provide table service with beer, wine and limited liquor service (a service bar, not a full bar), and operate daytime and evening dining hours. "It's gonna be a service bar. It's not gonna be a full bar," the applicant said.
Planning staff noted the approval should be conditional on the applicant adhering to state liquor-control requirements and to section 4.4.0.5.D of the Stratford zoning regulations on alcoholic beverages. The commission added a condition that the applicant must obtain a state liquor permit within 18 months of the zoning approval; failure to do so will revert the location to its former status.
No members of the public spoke in opposition or support during the hearing. The commission approved the appeal and directed that the zoning conditions be included in the approval record; the motion passed 5-0.
