In the mayor’s report on May 12, Laura R. Hoytich said the town has signed a redevelopment contract with Romano Brothers to build a transit‑oriented residential project on the former Center School property and that HRP has begun a phase 3 study to determine remaining remediation costs, supported by supplemental funding from the Connecticut Department of Community and Economic Development.
Hoytich also said the town has signed a 20‑year lease with HyAxiom to install 11 fuel cells on the southwest corner of the property. The mayor provided these updates as informational items during her report; no separate council vote or contract approval occurred on these items during the meeting.
The mayor directed interested parties to the project status page on the Economic and Community Development Office website for further updates. Council members asked whether schematic designs and project information were available to the public; the mayor indicated the redevelopment agency page and town web resources may include links and said staff would share details as requested.
