Council approves four Neighborhood Assistance Act projects, adds library window replacement

The Stratford Town Council voted May 12 to submit four projects to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services under the Neighborhood Assistance Act (NAA), and amended the submission to include a Stratford Public Library window replacement that had been omitted from the printed agenda.
Council member Mr. Long moved to submit three initial projects: Optimus Health (HVAC replacement at 305 Boston Avenue, $150,000), Perry House Foundation LLC (wall repair, $23,000), and Sterling Community Center (construction and materials, $150,000). Mr. O'Connor seconded the motion. Mr. Long later moved an amendment to add a fourth project — Stratford Public Library window replacement including materials and labor for $148,000.73 — citing a scrivener’s error that left the library off the printed agenda. Mr. O'Connor seconded the amendment. The council approved both the amendment and the amended resolution by voice vote.
Council members said the economic development office held a public hearing and notified local nonprofits; one councilor asked how many applicants applied and was told four had submitted materials and that the library had been present at the hearing. Karen Doyle, who held the NAA hearing for the town, was in attendance and available to answer questions.
The approved submissions will be forwarded to the Connecticut Department of Revenue Services for consideration under the Neighborhood Assistance Act program; final awards and credits are determined by the state.
