District highlights CABE student leadership awards, says Daniel Hand accreditation report was fully complimentary

Superintendent Dr. Cook used the board meeting to present student recognitions and to report that the accreditation letter for Daniel Hand High School was complimentary and showed no concerns.
Dr. Cook described the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education (CABE) student leadership awards presented to students at the middle and high school levels and introduced individual honorees. Among those recognized were Charles Crozier and Will (Paulson Middle School recipients) and high-school honorees including Ella O'Malley and Nicholas Lyons; principals and teachers praised the students' academic effort, leadership and community service.
On accreditation, Dr. Cook said the district had received the official letter on Daniel Hand's accreditation and that the letter was "completely complimentary. There was there was no concerns noted." He read highlights that praised relationships among the board, administrators, teachers, students and families; collaborative leadership teams; and a strong culture and climate in the building. The superintendent said the district would post the full accreditation report to the website and that Daniel Hand will return for a follow-up report in about a year and a half as part of the ongoing accreditation cycle.
The board also acknowledged teacher and nurse appreciation events and noted that 29 student-athletes from Daniel Hand would sign college athletic commitments at a ceremony the next day.
