Facilities staff member Mr. Deptula noted the district recently lost longtime contractor Pete Kennedy and acknowledged his years of service. Deptula reported that new exterior signs were completed at three schools (Rock Hill, Moran and one referenced as Sheen in the packet), though sign procurement required multiple rebids because early estimates were too high. He said baseball-field renovations at Dag Hammarskjold are nearly complete with new dugouts and clay infield added, and that other field renovations will proceed after seasons conclude.
Deptula described ongoing boiler-replacement work and said three additional boilers were added to the capital plan after the town council approved bonding at a recent town meeting; bids adjusted final amounts and staff marked those projects to proceed once the council—s timeline allows. He said replacing the most service-critical boilers remains a district priority.
Committee member Mr. Ross raised concerns about the new dugouts at two sites, saying the existing structures provide only an overhead roof and do not protect players from wind or side weather; he urged better protection for future dugout work.
No formal committee votes were taken on facilities projects during this meeting; updates will be included in upcoming board materials.
