Wallingford Board of Education honors state champions and conference-winning teams

Coach Dave Palmer and team captains joined the brief presentation and were acknowledged by the board.
The board also honored the high school mock trial team that won Connecticut’s 2025 state championship. Vince Visaco, who introduced the team, said the squad went 7–0 in the state competition and prevailed in the final after several rounds judged by state-level jurists; he singled out team captain Carter Lass as a season MVP and invited team members forward for recognition.
Superintendent Lizzie and a team representative introduced the co‑op ice hockey team composed of players from Sheehan High School and East Haven, which won the 2025 Division II state championship. A team representative listed roster members present and the board praised the cooperative program that allowed students from multiple schools to play together.
Procedural action: earlier in the meeting a board member moved to shift the hockey recognition to follow correspondence so some players could attend; that motion was seconded and approved by voice vote. The board later accepted its consent agenda by voice vote as part of routine business.
The recognitions were presented during the awards segment of the agenda and drew short remarks from school leaders and the superintendent. No formal policy changes or funding decisions were announced as part of the recognitions; the actions were ceremonial acknowledgments.
