Facilities update: boilers ordered, DAG projects completed; district targets Fall 2025 move-in for Adult Ed and WTA

Facilities staff told the Wallingford Board of Education operations committee on Monday that three replacement boilers have been ordered and that demolition work at affected sites will begin so the district is ready when equipment is delivered.

“Everything should be moving. We do not have delivery dates yet, but both companies are looking to get started early with the demolition,” facilities staff said. The operations update listed two recently completed DAG projects — new external door locks and a new baseball field — which will be removed from the active project list next month.

The superintendent said the district’s goal is to have Adult Education and the Wallingford Transition Academy in the Fairfield Boulevard facility for the start of the 2025 school year, with a mid-August target for those programs. She said central office relocation is planned later, possibly around the winter holiday break and into January, but that a firm date has not been committed by contractors.

Board members asked for an approximate move-in timetable. The superintendent said the district is aiming for fall 2025 occupancy for the school programs and said she would provide updated timelines as contractors finalize schedules.

The committee did not take formal action on projects during the update; staff were asked to continue progress reporting to the board.
