McHenry and Parkland wrestlers honored for state finishes

The McHenry School District 15 board of education recognized middle-school wrestlers from McHenry and Parkland who qualified for and placed at state tournaments.
At the April 22 meeting, coaches and administrators introduced athletes and described season achievements: one wrestler finished second in state after a 26–2 season, another took third, and a third placed fifth after starting wrestling this season. "They're all coachable, and they're all accountable," a coach said of the athletes, noting the youngsters’ rapid improvement and commitment. The board invited the coaches and athletes forward for certificates and photographs.
Parkland also sent qualifiers, and coaches highlighted a first-time state qualifier who missed advancing by one match in the previous year and returned to place this season. The district celebrated team results as well: the group returning from state compiled a combined record cited in the presentation and the schools finished among the top teams at the state-level events.
Superintendent Dr. Wright and board members congratulated the athletes and coaches and called for a group photo following the presentation. The board’s recognition was ceremonial and no policy actions accompanied the item.
