Commission approves special-event alcohol licenses for Siouxland Renaissance Festival

The Minnehaha County Board of Commissioners approved a special-event on‑sale wine retailer’s license and a special-event malt beverage retailer’s license for the Siouxland Renaissance Association’s Renaissance Festival at the W. H. Lyon Fairgrounds in June. The county auditor’s office reported the application had been reviewed by the Sheriff’s Office, State’s Attorney’s Office and Planning Department with no objections.
Kim Christianson of the Auditor’s Office summarized the application and fees, noting the fee for each license is $50 per day plus a publishing fee and that the licenses allow on‑site consumption. Commissioner Heisey made a motion to approve the license; the motion carried on a roll‑call vote (Kipli — aye; Heisey — aye; Blindberg — aye). Anna Voorhees, chair of the Siouxland Renaissance Association, later told the commission she was pleased and invited commissioners to the June event.
