Commission names Jacob Morris Minnehaha County highway superintendent

Minnehaha County commissioners on April 1 appointed Jacob Morris as the county’s highway superintendent, effective immediately. Carrie Deaver of Human Resources introduced the appointment, noting Morris had been with the county more than seven years, served three years as assistant highway superintendent, and had been the interim superintendent for several months.
“Jacob looks forward to maintaining our roads and bridges and keeping them in safe condition for the traveling public,” Morris said at the meeting. Commissioners asked questions about his background; Morris said he graduated from South Dakota State University in 2012, worked five-and-a-half years for the city of Sioux Falls, passed his professional engineer licensing, and joined the county in December 2017.
The commission took public comment and then voted to confirm the appointment. The roll call recorded the commissioners’ ayes and the chair said “Motion carries.”
