The Lincoln County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved an auditor request May 13 to overhire in the auditor’s office so a new payroll specialist can be trained before the current employee retires in September.
Lincoln County Auditor Sherry Lund told the board her payroll specialist is retiring in September and she requested authority to hire a replacement early so the new employee can be trained; Lund asked that the training hire start by June 29 and no later than July 13. Commissioners asked no substantive questions and voted to approve the overhire request in a roll‑call vote.
The action authorizes the auditor’s office to proceed with recruitment and hire the new payroll specialist in order to ensure an overlap for on‑the‑job training before the incumbent’s departure.
