LINCOLN COUNTY, S.D. — Commissioners authorized a sanitary-sewer easement agreement with the City of Canton at the site of the county Justice Center on May 6 to clear a timing issue affecting parking-lot work and sanitary arrangements.
County leaders said legal staff reviewed the easement agreement and that execution was necessary to move forward with site preparation and related parking work. A county staff member present for questions said the easement had been drafted, vetted and was being finalized to avoid delays in construction. The board approved authorization for the chair to execute the agreement by roll call vote; Commissioner Arons, Commissioner Otten, Commissioner Schmidt, Commissioner Putnam and Commissioner Landy voted yes.
Construction updates provided later in the meeting indicated structural steel work was nearing completion and concrete placements had started; architectural precast panels and roof work were next steps.
