Commission approves county bid purchases for road reclamation and bridge work

Lincoln County commissioners on April 1 voted unanimously to approve two purchases from other‑county bids to support ongoing road and bridge projects across the county.
The purchases were presented by Terry Floyd, Lincoln County highway superintendent, who told the commission the purchases would pay for full‑depth reclamation (FDR), additive injection and mill work on County Road 134 and for crane and heavy equipment to set bridge girders and a precast box culvert scheduled for installation this year. Floyd said the FDR and additive injection rates are $1.28 per square yard and that the project area is approximately 103,000 square yards.
Commissioners approved (1) a purchase from a Harding/Turner County bid (recorded in the agenda as the Turner/Harding bid) for road construction machinery from Lewiza Construction to perform full‑depth reclamation and related work on County Road 134; and (2) a purchase from a Turner County bid for crane and other heavy equipment from Holloway Construction Bridge and Culvert Inc. to set three new girders on two bridges and to install a precast box culvert.
The commission asked no substantive questions during the presentations and took no amendments to the purchase requests. The motions carried on unanimous roll calls recorded by the commission clerk.
Why it matters: the purchases fund pavement rehabilitation and bridge work that county highway staff said are needed to maintain the road network and to complete scheduled installations this construction season.
Details and next steps: highway staff will coordinate scheduling and contract execution with the selected vendors. Floyd also noted the county will reuse existing millings where appropriate as part of the project plans. The contracts and procurement documents were identified on the county agenda packet; the commission did not add conditions to the purchases.
