Round Rock approves ILA to add Georgetown as full partner of Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter

The Round Rock City Council approved a second-amendment restatement of the interlocal agreement (ILA) to add the city of Georgetown as a full partner in the Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter.
Kevin (city staff) told the council this ILA is the second of two approvals required to bring Georgetown on as a full partner. He said the agreement has received approval from the Texas Attorney General’s office and that Georgetown’s city council had already approved the ILA in April. Other partner cities were considering approval and the county commissioners were being targeted for approval at an upcoming meeting.
Kevin said adding Georgetown will increase regional shelter capacity and will require no additional City of Round Rock funds, provided required capacity and cost-sharing terms are met under the ILA. Misty Belenta, animal services director for the regional shelter, was present in the audience and available to answer operating questions if the council had any.
Council member Montgomery moved approval; Council member Ortega seconded. The resolution passed on a unanimous roll call.
Staff indicated the ILA will proceed to county consideration as the remaining partner approvals are completed.
