Round Rock City Council approved an interlocal agreement with the City of Georgetown to permit Georgetown to cross a Round Rock 36‑inch water line easement near Westinghouse Road, subject to conditions intended to protect the water main.
City staff said the 36‑inch line is an important east feed for Round Rock’s system. Under the agreement, Georgetown will install its electrical facility beneath the water line — at an expected depth of roughly 10 to 12 feet — and provide an encasement pipe across Westinghouse Road so that Georgetown can withdraw or repair its cable without disturbing Round Rock’s water main. Staff recommended the interlocal agreement to allow Georgetown’s electric installation while protecting Round Rock’s infrastructure.
Council members asked clarifying questions about service interruption risk. Michael, City staff, said the construction will not impact Round Rock’s water service because the electric work will be installed under the water line and in an encasement that isolates the electric conduit from the water main.
Motion to adopt the resolution was made by Council Member Ortega and seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Stevens; all members present voted yes.
