Mayor Pro Tem Darlene Fried and Main Street Fest co-chairs presented details about the 41st Main Street Fest in Grapevine, scheduled for May 16–18, including programming, marketing and volunteer needs.
The festival “is focused on family friendly experiences throughout the 3 day festival,” co-chair Leon Liao told the council, noting multi-market broadcast and digital advertising as well as print placements in regional outlets. Organizers said a separate ad emphasizing music headliners is also airing.
City staff and the steering committee described physical-security planning: Leon Liao said city departments “have spent months working together to create a hardened security perimeter for the festival that will make the festival grounds as secure as possible.” The presentation listed three stages of entertainment, a kids zone with programming partners (Sea Life Grapevine Aquarium, LEGOLAND Discovery Center, Great Wolf Lodge, Cook Children’s and Dairy Max), a craft brew experience at Liberty Park Plaza, carnival rides and a Kubota equipment demonstration in the Cotton Belt Depot District.
Organizers provided counts and vendor plans: 24 food vendors and 258 artisan/marketplace vendors were listed; headline performers and stage times were announced (Friday headliner at 9 p.m., Saturday headliner described as a high-energy show). The team said Friday admission is free until 5 p.m. and that a VIP experience and ticketed seminars will be offered.
Sponsorship and partner names were read into the record (including Bank of the West as presenting sponsor and Gaylord Texan Resort for the craft-brew experience). Organizers asked for volunteers and directed attendees to mainstreetfest.com for tickets and additional information.
No council vote or formal action accompanied the presentation. The council received the report and did not take any funding or regulatory action at the meeting.
The presentation concluded with an invitation to the public to volunteer and attend the festival.
