According to a staff summary provided in executive session and read aloud in open session, Freeman cited a vendor backlog—particularly for fire monitoring equipment—and changes in ADA standards that require additional work to bring parts of the facility into compliance. Commissioners said the county’s extension mirrors one the city is considering and is consistent with previous terms of the funding agreement.
A commissioner moved that the chairman sign the extension and a second was recorded; the board approved the action in open session. The extension does not change the substance of the original funding agreement beyond the new timeline; the chairman was authorized to sign the extension on behalf of the county.
Commissioners asked staff to route the executed extension to county administrative records and to coordinate with city officials as needed.
