Staff: housing projects steady; multifamily occupancy "about 10%" below 90% target

Weatherford staff on Feb. 12 told the Planning and Zoning Commission there have been no changes to the housing-analysis docket and presented the commission’s monthly building-permit and project-status reports.
A staff presenter said the Oxford project listed on the housing analysis has “filed for their bridal” and that the project is nearing completion in the next few days; staff said that item will be finalized. The presenter described the multifamily market as “pretty soft” and said, based on regular contacts with projects, occupancy rates are roughly 10 percentage points below the city’s 90% target — staff characterized the current average as about 10% below 90% across projects.
Staff also reviewed January building-permit counts for single-family starts and an accounting of other permits pulled so far this year, and provided an update backdrop listing active projects and noting that items will be removed from the update list as applications finalize or plats record. Commissioners did not ask for additional actions on the reports.
