Planning commission approves expanded vehicle- and equipment-sales permit at 1435 Fort Worth Highway

The Weatherford Planning and Zoning Commission on Feb. 12 approved an amended conditional use permit to allow expanded vehicle and equipment sales on a roughly 2.4-acre property at 1435 Fort Worth Highway.
The amendment, requested by applicant Pamela Willis, adds display, storage and sale of UTVs, compact construction equipment, utility trailers and lawn mowers to an existing conditional use permit that previously limited the site to new tractors, implements and related parts. Staff recommended approval subject to five conditions; staff said the site improvements required under the earlier permit have been completed.
Monica Johnson, a city staff member presenting the item, said the property is zoned C-1 (general commercial) and that “most of the conditions are relatively the same, except for condition 4, which adds the new uses.” The commission opened a public hearing at 2:34 p.m.; no one spoke and the hearing was closed. Commissioner John Cray said he had driven by the property and that “it looks really good,” noting the improvements matched the approved plans.
Commissioner Hinton made the motion to approve the conditional use permit with the conditions recommended by staff; Commissioner Hayes seconded. The commission voted to approve the permit; the chair announced the motion passed unanimously.
Because planning commission decisions on rezonings and conditional use permits are considered by the Weatherford City Council, the amendment will also be reviewed by the council at a later meeting, the chair noted.
