The Weatherford City Council approved an amendment to Title 12 of the city’s zoning ordinance to add contractor office facilities, including associated signage and vehicles, as a conditional use in agricultural zoning districts.
Planning staff said the change originated with a request heard by the Planning and Zoning Commission; commissioners were concerned that allowing contractor offices as a by-right use in agricultural zones could produce inappropriate results in some locations. The commission unanimously recommended the amendment and the council approved it the same evening.
City staff said the amendment applies citywide and will require future contractor-office proposals in agricultural districts to obtain a conditional use permit so the Planning and Zoning Commission and council can evaluate impacts case by case.
