Weatherford council approves $15,000 amendment to Scribe Architects contract for design additions

City staff member Matt Leplow said the original scope covered civil design that extended just outside the building footprint and included minor Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades at the entryways. Leplow said public works had initially planned to handle sidewalk work separately with a planned future reconstruction of Bridge Street.
“As we work through the design, there were opportunities to include additional outdoor patio seating and an additional entryway that really enhanced the project,” Leplow said. He added that those features required more design for stairs and retaining walls and that staff requested the proposal be expanded to include utility improvements so the elements could be combined into a single plan to “streamline the design and to minimize potential conflicts.”
Councilmember Luke Williams moved to approve the amendment; Councilmember Zach Smith seconded. Councilmember Tiscus, who attended remotely, verbally indicated a yes vote. The mayor called the vote and the motion passed.
The item had been removed from the table to allow discussion. Councilmembers asked for clarification of changes from the earlier report; staff said the additional scope was requested to produce a contiguous, all-in-one building design and to avoid splitting civil and utility work between separate future projects.
