Weatherford council accepts FY2024 annual and single audit reports; auditor issues clean opinion

The Weatherford City Council accepted the city’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and single audit for the fiscal year ended Sept. 30, 2024.
Dom Brooks, the city’s chief financial officer, presented the financial reports and introduced Paula Lau, partner with Patillo, Brown and Hill LLP, the city’s auditing firm. Lau told council the firm issued a clean opinion on the annual report and found no issues in the single audit. She also confirmed the city’s fund balance is within the council’s policy guidelines.
“We did give a clean opinion this year. No findings, no issues to bring to your attention whatsoever,” Lau said. Councilmember Heidi Wilder moved to accept the reports; Matt Tiscus seconded. Council voted to accept the audit report (vote tally not specified in the meeting record).
Brooks recognized senior accountant Rachel Vineyard for her work on the reports. Staff characterized the financial position as healthy and requested only acceptance of the audit (not an approval).
