Volunteer and airport community praise Arlington airport manager at council meeting

During the citizen-participation portion of the April 24 City Council meeting, Cheryl Lidke, an airport support network volunteer for the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association (AOPA), asked the council to recognize Arlington Municipal Airport manager Trent Ballard for recent community outreach efforts.
Lidke said volunteers from the Experimental Aircraft Association Chapter 34 and other airport-based groups supported Ballard's efforts by organizing quarterly tenant gatherings, inviting community members to the ramp, and arranging educational and family-focused activities. Lidke told the council the gatherings rebuilt a sense of community among tenants and that a recent event included the mayor and a council member who participated in outreach to airport users.
Mayor Jim Ross and council members received Lidke's remarks; staff confirmed Ballard's community-building efforts were underway. Lidke said the volunteers had helped bring families and community members to the airport to meet pilots and view aircraft up close and asked the council to publicly recognize Ballard for his work. Lidke's remarks were delivered as public comment; no formal action followed.
