Planning commission denies 53‑lot East Nursery Road subdivision after residents raise flooding, compatibility and traffic concerns

The Walton County Planning Commission voted to deny a quasi‑judicial application to approve the East Nursery Road subdivision, a proposed 53‑lot single‑family development on 28.2 acres in District 5. The motion to deny carried after extended public comment and a substantive exchange between commissioners, staff and the applicant.

Tim Brown, Planning and Development: “This is a major development or application submitted by Dewberry Engineers requesting approval to develop a 53 single family lot subdivision and associated infrastructure on 28.2 acres.”

Applicant representative Steven Tatum told commissioners the design meets code and will include stormwater detention and buffers.
