Waste Management has offered discounted cart pricing (from $130 to $115 for a new 95-gallon cart) for the county’s procurement, and is working to propose smaller-size cart alternatives (approximately 35–65 gallons) to provide a lower-cost option.
The county plans a limited signup window (three months) to prevent unbounded, rolling requests that would complicate contract accounting. Staff will reconcile GIS address lists, investigate where carts were previously dropped or misdelivered, and propose a process for residents who already purchased a cart independently (potential rebate). The board requested the county and Waste Management to propose wholesale/discount pricing for carts given the program’s scale and to return with a finalized amendment and implementation timeline.
