Driftwood Estates residents ask Walton County to bury power lines and secure alternate emergency egress from MacBayou Road

Amanda Richards, a resident at the entrance to Driftwood Estates, told the Board of County Commissioners on May 13 that repeated crashes along the S-curves of MacBayou Road blocked the only vehicular access for several hours on May 5 and again nearly on May 9, and that overhead power poles have been struck repeatedly.
“I’m asking the commissioners to put in for buried power lines on the way back of these S curves because they are so dangerous,” Richards said, noting the neighborhood has “one way in and one way out” and more than 1,000 houses behind the S-curves.
