Frisco City Council certifies May 3 election, orders June 7 runoff for council places 2 and 4

The Frisco City Council on May 13 approved an ordinance canvassing the certified returns of the May 3, 2025, general election and ordered a runoff election for council places 2 and 4 to be held June 7, 2025.

City staff told the mayor and council that final canvas totals had been calculated that afternoon and were emailed to council members and posted on the City of Frisco website. The ordinance, which also designates early-voting and Election Day polling sites and appoints county elections administrators to run the runoff, passed on a 5-0 vote.

A City staff member said, “This proposed ordinance is to canvas the 05/03/2025 general election and the charter amendment election. Additionally, the ordinance will also call a runoff election for city council's place 2 And 4 on 06/07/2025.”

Councilmember Bill moved to approve the ordinance “as presented, accepting the certified results of the 05/03/2025 general election and special charter amendment election, and ordering a runoff election to be held on 06/07/2025 for the purpose of electing a council member to place numbers 2 and 4.” Councilmember John seconded the motion; the vote was 5-0 in favor.

The ordinance authorizes the mayor and city secretary to take actions necessary to comply with applicable election laws and directs the Collin County Elections Administrator and the Denton County Elections Administrator to administer the runoff.

The council noted Councilmember Tammy was absent at the meeting, which convened at 4:30 p.m. at the George A. Purifoy Municipal Center and Council Chamber. The city posted final tallies on its website for public review.
